A responsible person find solace in successfully tackling his responsibilities ,much that contains and directly/indirectly impacts his own well-being ,and in pursuit of following that aim with that vision one lose the sense and sensibilities of relationship.
Too much observing and examining ones thought/vision/goals and fixing same on all contingent causes and also in ones inner and outer surroundings which appear with potential to hamper that balance envisaged to achieve ,which could not be achieved for long,cherished for long ,always faltering and finding excuses in micro failures i.e as if overall plans were perfect but what drifted was in lack of understanding minor details ,continuous persuasions,nagging.
A feeling becomes profound in Manager ,who is endowed with responsibilities that his command in organisation /family is not perfect ,one blame it for some nuisance elements,distortions,instigating genuine ones to disobey commands by repeated misguiding ,further it may be that manager himself lacks that confidence and maturity ,due to which he cant see/cure and establish overall situation ,then rather indulge in tactics just get pull-on work by any mean i.e even doing petty work directly undue intermingling with various /members/neighbors to anyhow ensure that work get complete or task is over.
The notion can be extended to any social context ,often this excessive obsession with the most minute details causes a direct management failure in its ability to focus on major details ,on which success/failure is more dependent ,rather than unnecessary creating overly report mania ,it is more worthwhile to issue general instruction and guidelines and focus on supervising larger concerns.
In management ,too much focusing on procedural trivia lose focus on overall performance ,such manager may claim to be structured organizer or perfectionist but such detail orientation is linked to ones emotional insecurities and doubts regarding employee competence and typical personality of manager and his hypersensitivity and also may lack competence and creative ability.
When Manager closely observe and/or control the work of his/her subordinates or employees ,it shows a lack of freedom in workplace .Excessive control and attention to small details depict lack of trust and ambiguous delegation of work/power ,which affects self-esteem as well as mental and physical health of employee and create wrong impression on outsiders like-consultant,client,visitor,interviewer,auditor.
The difference between Micro Management and Management is that of Micro ,paying attention to details and making sure that work in on track is important,sometimes other factors such as organisational culture ,performance pressure ,instability in managerial position etc create to enable themselves to feel useful and valuable by any mean yet many times blur the distinction by too micro attention /achievements.
